Mindfulness & Calm

- Inventor Leo builds a dino-transporter, journeys to the Jurassic, and teams up with clever velociraptor Vee to rescue a stuck stegosaurus.

- Smuggling Steggie to his school science fair causes chaos, but Leo’s calm mindfulness and quick thinking win gold and teach the class to breathe.

- After returning Steggie home, Leo and Vee savor gratitude and quiet moments, learning that bravery and mindfulness make every adventure shine.

My son, Leo, is obsessed with time travel and dinosaurs. He has a wild imagination—he’s always drawing inventions and telling me how he would make a ‘dino-transporter’ to visit different time periods (especially the Jurassic era). He also loves detective stories, and his favorite snack is strawberry jam sandwiches. I’d love a story where Leo (as himself!) teams up with a clever velociraptor, travels through time to solve dinosaur mysteries, and maybe even brings a dinosaur back to a school science fair—with hilarious results!

Quick Story Snippet

Before sunrise, Ludlow’s chimneys puffed mist like sleepy dragons. In a tiny attic, Leo fastened the final bolt on his gleaming, toaster-sized dino-transporter. Breath trembling, he whispered, “Done!” and punched the air. Sparks fizzed; gears hummed. Jackdaws squawked outside, almost cheering. Leo’s bold plan? Visit the Jurassic, discover how ancient beasts survived storms, and maybe—just maybe—bring back a gentle dinosaur for the school science fair. With a grin stretching wider than the River Teme, he slung on his toolbelt and jabbed the flickering green button.

Light exploded—spilled bright as liquid rainbows. Wind whooshed, shaking rocket and rugby posters. Then—zap!—the attic disappeared. Leo landed in a fern jungle dappling sunlight and smelling of peppery pine needles. A sharp-eyed velociraptor crouched nearby, feathers shimmering teal. “Name’s Vee,” she chirped, grinning. “Your arrival? Impossible to ignore.” Leo’s knees wobbled, but he remembered Dad’s trick: in for four, out for four. Calmness returned like driftwood after a flood. He grinned back. “Hi, Vee. Up for a Jurassic puzzle?” Vee’s banana-yellow claws tapped the ground in delight.

Thunderous thuds rumbled from the distance. Vines quivered, and broad leaves fluttered. “Something massive…” Vee warned. Instead of running, Leo squeezed his eyes shut and listened—thump, rustle, pause. “Not hunting. Sounds… lost.” He opened his eyes, determination kindling. Together they crept, sharp as detectives, until they spotted the source: a young stegosaurus jammed between twin boulders, nostrils fuming steam. “That’s a science-fair champion—if we don’t get squished!” Leo blurted, heart pounding.

Branches snapped. Vee tried prying the rocks with her tail. Crack! Nothing budged. Leo, thinking fast, grabbed a thick fallen branch and wedged it under a rock. Still stuck. “Wait,” he said, drawing a slow breath. The forest stilled, hinting secrets. He spotted slimy moss slicking the stones. “We need grip!” Quick as a fox, Leo scooped gritty sand and sprinkled it over the slime. “Try now!” Vee braced, claws digging like anchor hooks. Crrrunch! Suddenly, the stegosaurus lurched free, waggling her spiky tail and showering them in leaves.
